1974 AN ARTICLE ON THE ART MARKET

On 9 November 1974, the daily newspaper Bresciaoggi published the list drawn up in Germany of the world’s one hundred most important painters. Manzoni was the second Italian artist.

He had risen up the standings to 24th place (33rd in 1973, 40th in 1972 and 74th in 1971). His prices for a “representative” work were around nine million Lire (the most expensive artist was Jasper Johns at sixty million).
