BIOGRAPHY
1957 FIRST GROUP EXHIBITIONS
Manzoni participated on the 15th of January in a group exhibition with Fontana, Baj, Dangelo, Bruno Munari, Arnaldo Pomodoro and others organized by Luca Scacchi Gracco at Galerie 17 in Munich.
On the 4th of April, he participated in another group show, the Iª mostra dell’autoritratto (First Self-Portrait Exhibition) organized by Enzo Pagani at the Circolo della Stampa in Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan. Here he met Dada Maino who was subsequently to participate in the Azimut project.
The 29th of May saw the opening at the Pater gallery in Milan of the exhibition Manzoni, Sordini, Verga, with a brief but authoritative introductory text by Fontana: “I have followed for some time the activities, the research, the restlessness of these three young artists and in fact a number of their works are part of my small collection of modern art. I am convinced that their recent works have an important role in the field of contemporary painting, and it is therefore with respect and enthusiasm that I feel I can sponsor their exhibition.”
